"LF" Displayed on Keypad
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving the "LF" message displayed on your EG-260 keypad. LF is a fault message indicating that the incoming line voltage is too low. Have qualified personnel verify incoming voltage to the VFD is 208-230v AC. If voltage is correct, the VFD or EMC filter has most likely failed and needs to be replaced. To test EMC filter, have qualified personnel bypass the filter (L1 and L2 at the top of filter to VFD input) then power up EG-260 and press start. Do you you still get the “LF” error? If not, the filter needs to be replaced. If so, have qualified personnel remove the wires between the VFD and motor then power up EG-260 and press start. Do you still get the “LF” error? If so, replace the VFD. For additional technical support needs, contact our technical support team. To order new parts, visit the EG-260 parts page.
Installing or Replacing Shredder Disc (Blade)
This procedure will guide you through the steps to installing or replacing a shredder dic on your Goodnature EG-260. Procedure for Installing or Replacing a Shredder Disc Make sure the machine is powered off and unplugged. Remove hopper assembly by removing the four black hopper knobs. While holding firmly onto the white backing plate disc, remove shredder plate knob (triangular shaped object), doing so will enable you to remove the entire backing plate and shredder disc assembly from the drive hub. After this assembly has been removed, loosen, do not remove, the 8 screws which hold the shredder plate disc in place. Once these screws have been loosened, carefully turn the shredder plate disc counterclockwise and lift it off the backing plate. Caution: the shredder disc surface is very sharp, do not use the cutting surfaces to turn the disc as this may cause injury. With the disc off, place your new shredder disc on the backing plate and turn it clockwise to secure it in place, then tighten all 8 of the screws tightly. Make certain that the raised cutting surface is facing away from the backing disc. Place the backing plate assembly on to the drive hub, re-attach the shredder plate knob and tighten firmly holding onto the backing plate as you tighten the knob. Spin the backing plate assembly to make sure it spins freely. Place the hopper assembly on the unit, re-attach the four black knobs on the four posts and tighten. Be sure not to over tighten the four knobs as over tightening will make it difficult to remove the hopper assembly in the future when you clean your unit. "CL" Displayed on Grinder Keypad
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving the "CL" message displayed on your EG-260 keypad. “CL” on the keypad is a warning message indicating that the motor is drawing more amps than the current limit setting entered into the VFD. This warning message may be displayed for multiple reasons, all of which are listed below, along with possible solutions: 1. Aggressive use of product feeder The product feeder should be used to gently feed produce through the grinder. If an operator is applying too much force you will notice the CL warning. Most probable reason for applying too much force is a dull or incorrect grinder disc. Restart grinder after inspecting grinder disc, and be careful not to apply too much force when feeding the produce into the grinder. Extremely aggressive use of product feeder may cause the the stub shaft to move down on the motor shaft. This causes the shaft seal located beneath the grinder backing disc to become squashed. A squashed shaft seal will result in a slight burning smell accompanied with the CL warning. See stub shaft alignment article to rectify. 2. Incorrect speed setting There is a direct relationship between speed and horsepower when operating the grinder. As you increase speed you increase the horsepower. If you experience a “CL” warning when operating at slower speeds(below 45hz), increase the speed to above 45hz and continue grinding. 3. Product build up While processing certain products, A “CL” warning will be an indicator of built up product inside the EG-260 feed hopper. This can happen after long production runs. To address this, simply remove the hopper, clean out built up product and reattach the hopper. 4. Dull or incorrect grinder disc The grinder discs are considered a consumable part and after extended use they will start to dull. As a grinder disc dulls it becomes more susceptible to clogging and allowing product to build up. It is recommended that a replacement grinder disc is on hand at all times. Using an incorrect grinder disc can also cause a CL warning. Always match the grinder disc to the product you are grinding. For additional technical support needs, contact our technical support team. To order new parts, visit the EG-260 parts page.
"PF" Displayed on Keypad
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving the "PF" message displayed on your EG-400 keypad. PF is a fault message indicating that the motor has been drawing more amps than the current limit setting entered into the VFD. To clear this fault, the operator must issue a stop command from the keypad. The grinder will not restart unless the fault condition has been corrected. The warning message CL is the precursor to PF. When the grinder is operated under a CL warning message for multiple seconds the PF fault will disable the grinder. See CL solution article. For additional technical support needs, contact our technical support team. To order new parts, visit the EG-260 parts page.
Realign the Stub Shaft and Replace the Shaft Seal
This procedure will guide you through the steps to realign the stub shaft and replace the shaft seal on your Goodnature EG-260. Stub Shaft and Shaft Seal Alignment Aggressive use of the product feeder will cause the stubshaft to slide down on the motor shaft. When this occurs the shaft seal will be squashed usually causing a CL warning message on the keypad accompanied with a slight burning smell. Continued operation in this condition will not only cause the grinder to shut down on a PF fault code but will cause damage to the shaft seal. To properly realign the stubshaft and shaft seal follow the following instructions: Note: The only components of the grinder that should not be installed for this process will be the hopper and a shredder disc. Realigning the Backing Plate and Stubshaft 1. The first step in realignment will require use of an 1/8” allen wrench. This wrench will be used to loosen the two setscrews that attach the stubshaft to the motor shaft. The stubshaft is located between the motor and the grinder base plate. 2. After the setscrews are loose, pull out on the grinder disc backing plate until the top of the backing disc is 1 ½” away from the grinder base plate. 3. You can now retighten the setscrews. Goodnature recommends applying semi-permanent Loctite to the setscrews before tightening. Realigning or Replacing the Rubber Shaft Seal 1. We need to remove the backing plate hub, which is the metal component that holds the white backing place to the motor shaft. To accomplish this, grip the motor shaft with vice grips, and remove the backing plate hub using channel locks or another type of wrench. 2. Align the shaft seal so that the top of the seal is flush with the top of the shoulder on the stubshaft. 3. Re-attach the backing disc with drive hub to the stubshaft, again using a small amount of semi-permanent Loctite is recommended. Blank Keypad Display
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving a blank keypad displayed on your EG-260. A blank display on the keypad is an indicator that there is no power being supplied to the keypad. There are a few reasons why this may be happening listed below. For the purpose of troubleshooting it is assumed that the unit is plugged into an operational receptacle and properly powered on at the disconnect switch the electrical box open. Only qualified personnel should open the electrical box on the grinder. VFD Has No Display If upon power up the VFD has no display, qualified personnel will need to meter the incoming voltage at terminals L1 and L2 of the VFD. If 208-220Vac is present, the VFD has failed and needs to be replaced. If there is no voltage metered, qualified personnel must then meter the L1 and L2 terminals at the bottom of the disconnect switch. If voltage is metered at this point, the EMC filter which is mounted below the VFD has failed and needs to be replaced. VFD Displays JF A JF fault code indicates a loss of communication between the keypad and VFD. Qualified personnel will need to reattach disconnected wires between VFD and keypad. If all wiring is sound and still no keypad display, the keypad has failed and needs to be replaced. For additional technical support needs, contact our technical support team. To order new parts, visit the EG-260 parts page.
Three Dots Displayed on Keypad
There are a few reasons why the keypad on your EG-260 grinder might display “: ..” Below you will find a list of probable reasons as well as solutions. You will need to have qualified personnel power the unit on with the electric box door open to resolve. What does the display on the VFD read? “CF” / “cF” displayed on VFD Either CF fault message is an indicator of an Electronic Programming Module(EPM) fault. The EPM is what stores the program for the VFD. Corrective measures are to power down the unit completely and replace the EPM with a preprogrammed EPM or power down the unit remove, and reinstall current EPM. A factory reset must be performed upon reinstallation of existing EPM after initial power up. After the factory reset has been performed, the OEM parameters must be reprogrammed. “F1” displayed on VFD F1 is also an EPM related fault. This fault indicates either a missing or damaged EPM. Corrective measures are to power down the unit and press the EPM back into place. Upon power up the VFD should now read – – – or another fault code. If F1 is still displayed the EPM is damaged and must be replaced. “JF” displayed on VFD JF is a remote keypad fault indicating an interruption of the communication link between the keypad and the VFD. Most probable reason being a loose or disconnected wire between the keypad and VFD. Power down the unit completely and have qualified personnel inspect and repair wiring. Upon power up the VFD and Keypad should read – – -. If the wiring is correct and the VFD continues to read JF the keypad is damaged and needs to be replaced. Deep Cleaning EG-260 Grinder
Follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to properly deep clean your Goodnature EG-260 Grinder. All equipment being used for food processing in a commercial kitchen should be washed, rinsed, and sanitized at least once every four hours. Depending on use, you will also want to perform a “deep cleaning” of the EG-260 at least once per month or more if being used daily. Warning: Always clean equipment according to local health regulation Deep Cleaning the EG-260 Grinder Doing a deep cleaning the grinder is fairly easy, and all that’s needed is a steel wool sponge and white vinegar. Cleaning the Steel Surfaces The most important area to clean is the stainless steel surface behind the blade, since this area comes in direct contact with the fruit and vegetables you are juicing. We recommend the following cleaning process: Remove the hopper. Remove the white backing plate by removing the triangular backing plate knob and lifting the white plate off of the machine. If your grinder contains a removable white gasket (introduced in grinders made during March 2015 or after), remove it. If not, you will either need to clean around the non-removable gasket, or remove the gasket and purchase a new removable gasket to use after cleaning. The removable gasket is compatible with earlier versions of the grinder. Pour white vinegar onto the sponge and scrub the steel until clean. #4 can be repeated for any steel surfaces that need cleaning, including the outside of the electrical box. Cleaning Blades and Backing Plates If the grinder blade has built up a white residue, it is best to replace the blade instead of attempting to clean it. Usually, by the time a blade has built up a white residue, the blade is also dull and should be replaced. If the white backing plate is stained, we recommend removing the blade, scrubbing the backing plate with soap and water, and soaking the backing plate in water with a small amount of bleach for 8 hours. If this doesn’t clean the backing plate, we recommend purchasing a new backing plate. For more detailed information on cleaning your EG-260 Grinder, refer to the EG-260 Owner's Manual. Choosing the Best Grinder Blade and Press Bag
Which bag, blade, and grinder settings should you use? This is a basic guide for the EG-260 grinder used with the X-1 and X-6 presses. If you are mixing ingredients, usually the best combination is the 1/4″ blade at a speed of 40 Hz, and the medium weave press bag. We recommend mixing ingredients, since it makes the grinding process easier and you can achieve a better yield. General rules of thumb are: For firmer fruits and vegetables a smaller holed grinder disc is recommended. For softer fruits and vegetables a larger holed grinder disc is recommended. The size of the disc can be found stamped along the outer edge. For fine grind use 3/16″ or 3/32″ tooth grinder blade, medium grind – 1/4″, coarse grind- 1/2″ or 5/16″ Speed also affects the grind. Use a faster speed on the grinder for a finer grind. Trial and error is a good approach simply for learning what works best for your business and specific recipes. If you are juicing ingredients separately, this is what we recommend: Apple – Med bag / coarse grind Beet – Tight bag / fine grind Carrot – Tight bag / fine grind Celery – Med bag / medium grind Leafy Greens (kale, spinach, etc.)- Med bag / medium grind Cucumber – Med bag / medium grind Ginger – Tight bag / fine grind Grape – Tight bag / mix with other ingredients, or do not grind Pear – Tight bag / coarse grind Pineapple – Med bag / coarse grind – do not remove the rind Pomegranate – Med bag / do not grind Romaine Lettuce – Med bag / medium grind Wheat Grass and Herbs– Med bag / grind with other produce or using separate food processor Almonds and other nuts – Monofilament Nut Milk bag / soak in water and grind using a blender or food processor (don’t use the EG-260) Download Bag & Blade Guide To order new parts and press bags, visit the Goodnature shop.
